Steak Fajitas

Have you noticed that you’ve been a little busier, a little more hurried, and perhaps even a little too hot to spend a lot of time in the kitchen preparing dinner every night? I concur, too! Sam has returned to school, I’ve been finishing up my cookbook, and Bart has been quite busy at work. So, we’ve been extinguishing both ends of the candle!

So I just knew that this time-pressed supper recipe for steak fajitas would be perfect! It is simple and delicious, and it comes in handy on hectic nights, which we’ve all experienced occasionally. Another favourite family dish for situations like this is my chicken fajitas. Both are equally ideal for serving family and friends on the weekends for a relaxed supper that everyone will appreciate.

In terms of efficiency and simplicity, I prefer to go a little bit farther with this fantastic recipe for steak fajitas. When I know I’ll serve it the next day, I like to prepare it the night before.

How to Make Steak Fajitas with Meal Prep Tips:

My recipe for steak fajitas is ideal for quick meal preparation to make midweek meals even simpler.!

I cut the peppers and onion into slices and prepare the marinade before making the beef fajitas.

Then I put the veggies in one bag and the steak in another, adding this delicious marinade to each bag before zipping everything up and shaking it.

I then placed everything in the refrigerator to marinade in these savoury spices for an entire night

When I cook it for dinner the following night, it’s done in a matter of minutes.

  • ▢1 medium onion peeled and sliced into thin strips
  • ▢3 tablespoons olive oil
  • ▢1 tablespoon lime juice
  • ▢1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • ▢1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ▢pinch cayenne pepper
  • ▢1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • ▢1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • ▢2 cloves garlic minced
  • ▢6-8 tortillas warmed

  • Sour cream
  • Guacamole
  • Salsa

Step 1: Put the meat in a bag that can be sealed. Put the onion and peppers in a separate, sealable bag. In a jar with a screw top or tight fitting cover, combine the olive oil, lime juice, chilli powder, ground cumin, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper, and garlic. Shake to thoroughly mix. Pour one-third of the marinade over the steak, one-third over the vegetables, and save the remaining marinade in the jar for when the steak fajitas are being cooked. Place the bags in the refrigerator for up to a day after carefully sealing them.

Step 2: Heat a sizable skillet over medium-high heat when you’re ready to cook. Cook the vegetables in the skillet for about 5 minutes, or until they are crisp-tender but still firm. Add steak strips to the same skillet after removing the veggies to a platter. Add the vegetables back to the skillet along with the marinade that was set aside once the steak is fully cooked (approximately 7 to 10 minutes).

Step 3: Serve with warm tortillas and any extra garnishes of your choice.
